Born in Moscow. In 1957 he graduated from the Central Music School, then, in 1962, from the Moscow Conservatory (class of A.I. Astakhov).

Pedagogical activities:

Since 1962 he has worked at the cello and double bass department of the Moscow Conservatory, and since 1991 he has been a professor. Since 1963 he has been teaching at Central music school. In 1975-1994. He also worked at the Music School at the Moscow Conservatory. Conducts master classes in France, Great Britain, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, in music educational institutions Russia.

Double bassists from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Algeria, Egypt, Germany, Spain, Korea, and Japan trained under Professor Kolosov. Among them: rector of the Astrakhan Conservatory, Honored Artist of Russia, professor G. Slavnikov, associate professor of the Donetsk Conservatory N. Tyryshkin.

IN last years Bolshoi Theater Orchestra artists V. Molodozhan, A. Parsadanov, A. Manakov, G. Krotenko graduated from Kolosov’s class.

Concert activities:

Kolosov's performing repertoire includes many works from the Baroque era to the present day. Kolosov performed in solo and chamber concerts. The first performer in the USSR of the Sonata for double bass by P. Hindemith, the Concerto for double bass of F. Fontaine, the concerto of E. Konus and others.

Sonatas and concertos for double bass by S. Berinsky, M. Magidenko, A. Koblyakov were written for him and dedicated to him. Kolosov’s partners in performing the Grand Concert Duo by G. Bottesini were violinists G. Feigin and I. Bochkova. Since 1993 he has been working in the Moscow Symphony Orchestra (conductor V. Ziva).
